Calvin Jones, Senior Project Manager for New York City Housing Development Corporation (“NYCHDC”), is responsible for originating, underwriting, and closing mortgage loans to primarily finance the rehabilitation of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) units, using funds raised through bond issuances and/or allocations of corporate reserves.
Prior to joining NYCHDC, Calvin served in underwriting roles at Capital One and D.C Housing Finance Agency.
Calvin has spent his entire career within multifamily finance focusing on market rate and affordable housing (4.0% Low Income Housing Tax Credits and RAD Conversions) financings. Overall, Calvin has personally underwritten and closed $500 million in multifamily loans consisting of GSE (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), FHA MAP, FHA Risk Share and Balance Sheet Construction – to – Perm financings.
In addition to his experience in multifamily finance, Calvin is an aspiring real estate developer/ investor. In 2014, Calvin launched BrookWynn Capital Partners, LLC and made his first investment with the acquisition, renovation and leasing of a single-family rental property located in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA.
Since then, Calvin has gone on to raise his first real estate investment fund (PHL SFR FUND I, LLC) via a joint venture with the HOPE Investment Group in 2018. The funds’ mission was to acquire and preserve affordable homes in communities that have been historically neglected. The fund has acquired three properties, including 1 multi-unit residential asset. The overall loan-to-value (LTV) of the portfolio is 68.0% with expected portfolio cash on cash return to investors of 12.0%.
Calvin has a Masters in Real Estate from Georgetown University and earned a B.A from Moravian College.
